Steam the beans for 5 minutes, then rinse under cold running water and drain thoroughly. (This stops the cooking process and pre- serves the bright color of the beans.)

Warm the oil in a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add the parsley, chives or scallion tops, basil, thyme and salt; mix well. Cook for about 1 minute, or until the mixture starts to sizzle. Stir in the beans and heat through.
